Hi Margaret,

I think we might need some clarification here, so we can try help you better?

FIRST:
You have:

George ELLISON
Born 23 Jul 1868 Shildon
Father: George ELLISON
Mother: Ann
Married 1894, Yaxley Hunts
Martha CLARKE, born Sawtry, Hunts.

Yet, in 1901 the George who married Martha is listed as age 28, b Gateshead (born abt 1873)
RG13 | 1169 |  132 | 39
He and Martha are in New Windsor Berkshire, with their 1 yr old daughter Nathalie.
They are in the Victoria Barracks at Windsor; George is a Sergeant in the Army.

There's a 5 year difference between the 1868 Birth you have found and the age on the 1901 Census.

Are you certain the 1868 Shildon born George is the same one who married Martha CLARKE?

SECOND:
You've  referenced this Census for us:

CENSUS 1871 - 43 Albert Street, Gateshead.
RG10-5058 20 33,
Head Robert SPENCER 64, Labourer, b Wigan, Lancashire.
Wife: Sarah SPENCER 64, b Westbury
Son-in-Law: George ALLISON 25, Widower, Labourer, b Long Horsley, Northumberland
Grandau: Sarah J ALLISON 4, b G'head, Durham
Grandson: Geo ALLISON  2, b G'head, Durham

And this is the same ALLISON father & son  in 1881:
CENSUS 1881 - 1 Palmer Street, Gateshead
RG11 | 5033 | 19 | 32
Head: George WRIGHT 30, Labourer in Iron Works, b Rashden, Hereford
Wife: Hannah WRIGHT 30, b Debden, Essex
Son: Ernest WRIGHT 7, b Gateshead, Durham
Boarder: George ALLISON 33, Widr, Drapers Porter, b Longhorsley, Northumberland
Boarder: George ALLISON Jnr 12, b Gateshead, Durham

Widower George ALLISON above remarried in 1884 Gateshead, to Mary Jane C PICKEN and is found with her on subsequent Census, with their own two children: Lillian Beatrice ALLISON b 1884,  and John Patrick ALLISON b 1887.

Is George Jnr here in 1871 & 1881 the boy who grew up & went on and married Martha CLARKE  in 1894?

The topic from Sunday
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=731205.9
Had the information posted about the 1894 Marriage:

Yaxley St Peters, 21 Jul 1894
George ALLINSON 24, Soldier, address Battersea. Father: George ALLINSON
Martha CLARK/E 23, . Father Elijah CLARK/E
Witness: Amos CLARK/E and Eliza CLARK/E

George's age at marriage at age 24,  puts him born around 1870.

(The marriage indexed as ALLISON. Is it definitely ALLINSON on the actual cert?)

Cheers

Hello Ambly I think we could be looking at the 1901 census
RG 13 1169 132 39, that seems very likely, yes I admitte these ages vary from 1868-1873, thankyou very much.Margaret.
