Hi everyone

Im looking for a Franco Fil , only info I have is he arrived in New Zealand from Australia in 1863 on the Star of India..His background noted that he is from Quebec.. Montreal..age 37 yrs ..& was shoemaker...I see that there is a possibility of name changes as in NZ he is noted as Frank Phil..
So looking for any info that I can make a connection to someone in Quebec...

Thanks to anyone that can offer any clues... ???

Francois Martel Fils

It's French - and fils with a small "f". It means he was the son of another Francois Martel listed above.

Wow that's a tough one, as his accent might have made for a phonetic error....

There are some Faille Falle Fale, but census aren't all available... earlier ones do not name children, and not all are complete.

Yes, that is sad that so many transcriptions used fils as last name...even the collections Canada site.
