Did John Warburton and Elizabeth marry after August 1893? There is a burial of a Joshua Barnes on 11th August 1893 which if that 1869 marriage is right would leave Elizabeth free to marry as a widow.

Elizabeth Ann and John Warburton married in September 1893 - so there might be something in that with Joshua Barnes dying a month or so earlier.

Can someone look at the 1851 census and let me know how old you think John Barnes is - can't make it out. Thanks

Looks like that John Barnes of 1851 died in 1851 age 27 buried June 8 1851 of Stonefold. (I think his age is 26 in the 1851).
I would say that they are the couple married in 1845 - John Barnes and Betty Haworth (she was from Rising Bridge)  I have investigated the "Cold Wells" couple - they are older and have other kids, not the other couple who have an Elizabeth Ann in 1847, the father is a joiner.
Still looking (my interest is in Barnes of Haslingden also - especially in that area north towards Rising Bridge!),
cheers,
Sharon
