You might want to expand the image  with the 4 arrows in the upper right corner.  Thomas is mentioned on page 120 of the tax book.[/quote

My 1913 tax book only goes to page 112!

This 1905 RI state census gets the date of birth right, but the year was off by 11.   ???  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MLVD-RJW

Contrary to the transcription, the actual image gives the parents' birth place as England.

Do you know I have just noticed he gives his age almost correctly as 53 - just his maths wrong!

There appear to be mentions of a criminal case against Thomas Simister in 1904 & 1905:

They work for me, but they take a bit of time to open.  The articles were here:  http://bristol.advantage-preservation.com/

I get a message "Hmmm we can't reach this page"; could it be because I am windows 10 and Microsoft edge is a problem, will try internet explorer.

Now found it, thanks very much. I presume he was earning so little that his poll tax was only $1.

Glad you found it.  Apparently, the book is a compilation of 4 years and Thomas is listed in the 1916 tax book found at the end of the main book.
