You posted twice for Thomas Flynn/Flinn  --  are these the same people?? and you are not sure what year and what ship he came over on??

Any birthdate, birth location, idea of where he might have gone in the US or his profession?  Did he travel alone or with other family?

All details are helpful   --  US is a BIG place and lots of Thomas Flynns/Flinns.

found two Thomas Flinn/ Flynn one went on the mary morris it says arrival date 23 september 1851 Native country Ireland age 28 that is for Flinn
then i found another Thomas Flynn he was 24 ship Ellen
occupation Blacksmith Native country Ireland arival date 28 april 1847

Yep!  just backtracked to the passenger lists and found same --

So,  We are looking for a Thomas Flynn/Flinn  b. 1823 in Ireland who may be a blacksmith who arr. in the US between 1847-1851.

Really helps save time and energy and gets you where you want to go faster --   to spit out as many details as might pertain when you post.   Will see what comes of 1860 census for your Mr. Flynn/Flinn.

Re:  Mr. Thomas Flynn/Flinn  ---  starting w/ 1860 ---  there are MANY! AND I DO MEAN MANY! w/ bd w/i 2 years of 1823 b. in Ireland! 

1860, 1870 and 1880 census do not show immigration year.   So without some geographical target or other identifier  --  vitually impossible to find him.

So are there any other names floating around or possible locations or other relatives in the US that could be used to pick him out of a large crowd?

IGI has US 1880 Free on line ---  22 hits for Thomas Flynn/Flinn came up ---  would have 29 years at least since he landed on American shores!  his life could be anything by 1880!  but perhaps if you cruise those entries and see if anything fits to what you know or "feels right"  than we can back track him into 1870 and 1860.

There is no 1890 US Census.  So can't pick him up until 1900 and that is where immigration year shows on census report.

Posting 2 entries from 1860 "just in case" ....but I would fall over dead if either of these were in fact him....
