An article on www.fultonhistory.com has Mary and Sheila Sweeney attending a 5th anniversary party for John Fyfe Jr. in Feb.  1934.  Various Fyfes, including James, were also among the guests.

Another article on there from 1 Dec. 1941 said James Fyfe of Tuckahoe Road was in an accident when driving a car owned by Mary Sweeney of Tuckahoe Road.

So that narrows a marriage (if there was one) to between 1942 and 1949.

I wonder if James & Mary were working in the same carpet shop in 1930 and that’s where they met

Yonkers Herald Statesman from 27 Mar. 1943 has a list of 92 people at the Alexander Smith & Sons Carpet Company who were certified as job instructors from the War Manpower Commission.  Mary Sweeney is on the list and, not James, but John Fyfe is too.

Interesting that his sons don't get a mention in that death notice, yet Sheila, who presumably wasn't his daughter, does.
Hi groom

The boys are mentioned:
"Surviving are two sons by a previous marriage, Stanley of Yonkers, and James of Broad Albin, N. Y."  Edith Agnes Maitland Meyer, James's first wife, was their mother.

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

Hi again

Most of the Fyfe family worked for Alexander Smith & Co.  James was a machinist at there for a number of years before his employment wit the Otis Co., the elevator manufacturers.  Not sure if that's classed as "going up in the world" or not, but I'm sure the job had its "ups and downs"  ;)  Sorry about that!
