William Sennett family information
« on: Friday 30 October 15 19:06 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Trying to find information on William Sennett who came to USA around 1849 or so.  My relative was born in 1840 in Tipperary.  His mother was Norah Sennett. We think but are not sure Norah husband was also William Sennett.   They settled in Northeast, PA.

Any information. Is appreciated.

Hi There

Do you not have a marriage cert for William re your other thread is to get a father's name and occupation ?

BTW The spelling of the surname would be Sinnott / Synnott in Ireland.

Where have you gotten that he was from Tipperary ?

Before you even start to think about searching for the family in Ireland you need to look at all available U.S. resources and check what you find.

The 1880 census lists Norah Sennett (age 50, born Ireland, widowed) in the household of her son Wm. Sennett (age 35). They are living in North East, Erie Co., Penna. Either Norah was 15 when William was born or (more likely) the ages are incorrect (quite common).

A death certificate for a Catherine O'Connor died 13 Dec.1921 Erie, Erie Co., Penna., age 74 (born c1847 Ireland) lists parents as Richard & Norah Sennett.

Added- note that eldest son of William & Mary is named Richard-

Baptism John 1841

The records for this church are only available from 1840 so IF this is the correct couple then William could have been born prior to this.

No Richard Sinnott on GV in the area.

It was done in that area in 1850 which would be good if you say they immigrated in 1849.
