WW2 are all records online

Are all WW2 records online ? my grandad got shot in the elbow in WW2 but i can't find any records for him in military searches. where could i look for him in relation to WW2 ?

As far as I understood individual records from WW2 aren't on line, you have to apply to see them.

Ive just emailed The National archives regarding WW2 soldiers (and my grandad) they said i would get a reply in 10 days, how do i find this post again, it's been moved   :'(

I expect a Mod moved it to the correct board so that people who are more knowledgeable see it and can advise you.

If people answer you should get a message, but to find it again you can always click on profile at the top and then Summary and Show Posts.

The National Archives do not hold the records, they are still with The Ministry of Defence.

Use the link Groom has given you and read the instructions. There is a charge of £30 when you apply for the records, unless they are your own or your deceased  spouse.

You can find your posts by going to your profile and clicking on your posts, you will find it there.

thank you, I read the instructions and found that i have to print it off and post as i don't have resources to do it online and i dont have a printer, for actions for  https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/overview

so I googled who else would know info and the national archives came up, so iv messaged them and they said they would get back to me in ten days, saying what, i dont know, but it will be something rather than nothing

You can ONLY apply for WW2 records by post! ::)

So I would suggest getting yourself down to your local library, where you should be able to print off the forms.
My local library charges 20p per A4 sheet.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Am I also right in thinking there is also quite a long wait ( maybe several months) before you get them and only certain people can apply?
