Hi Rosie17,
The 1865 census is definitely the Francis Lawson that I have been looking at. The immigration record in 1850 is quite likely him. Where did you find that record and are there further details about Francis?
The draft registration - is that for WW1? My Francis died in 1904. If civil war, sounds like him. Details are right.
Thank you very much.

I did try familysearch as I don't have Ancestry but no luck. Rose Ann died 1883 and Francis 1904. Would love to see Civil War registration.

When I looked at the Ticonderoga passenger list in 1850, Francis Lawson was at the bottom of a page so I looked at the next page to see if he might be travelling with someone else in the family. To my surprise and delight, the next passenger was John Lawson Beggs, born 1833, who would be the first cousin of Francis Lawson Boyd, if Francis' father Robert Boyd is my Robert Boyd.  I am thinking the odds are good. Francis' father Robert Boyd and John's mother Margaret Beggs nee Boyd would be siblings.

Yes, I know who he travelled with in 1850. But his naturalization record says he emigrated on June 6, 1844 and I don't know who he travelled with then. I can't find that travel record.

Peggy

Found the record (date out by only a few days) and I suspect that he travelled by himself (no sign of Boyds, Lawsons, etc.)-

"Perseverance" arrived 10 June 1844 New York from Dublin
