Welcome to rootschat  :)

There is a Mary Bartrem birth registration in quarter ended September 1839 in Berwick registration district - this includes Tweedmouth.

Details from freebmd   http://www.freebmd.org.uk

Unfortunately to get any further details you would have to buy a copy of the birth certificate.  This can be obtained from GRO for £9.50.

It might be possible to find her baptism record but not all Presbyterian records are available.

sorry i didn't  read your message correctly, Mary Ann's father was Benjamin and his father was James Bartram.  I ordered the birth certificate that was found above, hoping that gives me the correct info on her mother.

If you have any clues as to how I would go about finding her fathers birth record from 1805, I would be extremely grateful.  Thanks so much!! I feel like throwing some people off my tree at times :)

Just to confuse things I need to mention that Norham is actually in north Northumberland.

Until 1844/45 (I forget which) there were three enclaves in the county which belonged to Durham - Norhamshire, Islandshire (around Holy Island) and Bedlingtonshire (in the south east of the county).

So although the census says they were living in Durham they weren't  ???

Fortunately all changed before the 1851 census.
