Hi Paul

I feel sure Ive located it - Borrington Rd, its off Comberton Rd & right opposite is Barnetts Lane which is probably why you've been given an address ending Lane Rd to look for.

A little more info for you, Borrington Rd is just on the edge of St Georges Ward & Barnetts Lane is just on the edge of Rowland Hill Ward(the boundary being Comberton Rd) - these electoral wards may have changed a bit over the years as I left Kiddy in 1971 & now live at Weston-Super-Mare.

There is not & never has been a Binnington Rd or Lane in Kidderminster so it all points to Borrington Rd as the place you are searching for - put this down to local knowledge if you need a source

Hi Paul

I just had another thought after reading your reply to Kay's posting - have you considered that Borrington Rd & Barnetts Lane may once have been one long Road or Land- I don't know this for a fact but its plausible don't you think - this may be where the Rd Lane part of the address you are searching for came from

Hi Phil

Thank you for looking into this for me. I think it has to be either 'Borrington' or 'Birmingham', I'll see if I can find some other evidence to corroborate one of those.

Thanks again

Paul

I must admit that the only road I can think of which is slightly similar and where the numbers go as high as 170 is Birmingham Road - but the name is so different.

I do find it strange that the address includes both road and lane??

Hi Paul

I suggest you look at old electoral registers then as it sounds as if you don't want to use the obvious road & Birmingham Rd spelling is to different to have been a mistake

Cheers

Phil

Hi Paul

Ive checked the 1969 electoral register for Kidderminster & that year there were 76 dwellings in Borrington Rd & the Lane that could have once been an extension of it Barnetts lane had 46 dwellings.

I also wonder if you were given the correct number so her is who occupied number 70 Borington Rd in 1969
