Ok Hallmark - thanks - that should make my job just that much more entertaining!  I am very used to personal name variations... not so much name places!  That is definitely something I will have to keep in mind and be very careful of going forward.

Hallmark - - yes the info re Johanna's parents jives with the info on her death certificate.  her father was listed as a waterworks timekeeper... to be further explored.

Yes you need to be reasonably flexible with names!

You are really lucky that Kerry is so well covered!

Hallmark - Yes I am VERY grateful that the "rellies" were born in Kerry.  It seems to be the best documented.  I do hope to track down more about their actual lives in Ireland.

I am really looking forward to finally visiting and spending some time there:)

Hallmark - Ok thanks for that link to the map.  I read somewhere earlier that a visitor had described Castleisland as "...a street between two fields"!!!  Quite unkind:)

Hallmark - well at least it is a large street!  Anyway it's definitely worth a visit.  The old library building is lovely.

Hallmark - I was looking at one of the records on Irish Genealogy... it was a baptismal record and referred to two "sponsors".  Would that be Godparents in modern day parlance?
