Royal Hotel, Grimsby, any records surviving.
« on: Wednesday 25 November 15 20:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi  :)

One of my relatives was a barmaid at The Royal hotel, Grimsby, during the 1881 census.

I notice that the Royal Hotel use to advertise for staff on a regular basis

all ways asking for a photo to be send with any applicants information,

I was wondering if any of these could have been archived anywhere .

Try the North East Lincs Archives, in the Town Hall, Grimsby.   They may have some records.

Hi
If you give me the name of the person whom you are looking for, I will pop in to the archives and ask them what records if any they hold.

It's not to often we have a Grimsby person on RootsChat. I have been from Singapore to San Francisco the long way and from Dundee to Cape Town and Rio  but I have never been to Grimsby. Is the odour still there from the fish dock?  Normally Midnight is past my bedtime but I would be prepared to make an exception if the "Midnight in Grimsby" still exists. Been to British West Hartlepool, Blackpool and Skegness but never to Grimsby.

you do not know what you are missing.   No the odour from the fish docks is not there any longer due to the demise of the fishing industry.

not much before 1881 I should think.
