Birth Certificate
« on: Wednesday 25 November 15 23:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I am trying to obtain a photocopy of a birth certificate for my grandmother for family research purposes. She was born in Hamstead in 1896. I have found the reference in the BMD index online.

Can anyone tell me how I should go about getting this. Can I order it online ? How much will it cost etc. I am living in Ireland and am not familiar with the English system. In Ireland a photocopy can be purchased from GRO for €4.00.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

You order via the (UK) GRO, using the information you found on FreeBMD.
See: https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate

The cost is £9.25, and includes postage and packing.
