He wasn't in Buttevant until 1866..

True. What's the 0123 number for on the record? Does that say exactly where they were born?

My aunt has also told me that Hannah Manning was born in Bantry, but she often gets things completely wrong! I guess she might have returned home to have her second child. Might be worth a shot.

Her first child was also born in Cork - Annie Murphy 26th August 1861. I'll try and find out where. Maybe they were born in the same place.

If not, I'll have to do the long trawl through all the registers in Cork.....

As far as i know... it is the Registry office number, which one it is I don't know!

As you have a year for one then at least you have something to go by.. it is a bit of work alright!

Wow! Great find. Thanks. It also has his regiment confirmed as 1st battalion 14 regiment on the record as well. No Elizabeth Murphy in 1862 or 1863 later on though. The search resumes :)

Good news! I have found my great grandmother! Yahoo!

She was baptised on 4th January 1883 at St Patrick's, Cork. I trawled through my research and found her first daughter was baptised there and thought I'd check. I have also found either Hannah Manning's brother or father on the register as well - John Manning. The area they live in is Mayfield, Cork. So much more info - it's so exciting.

Thanks to you all. I really appreciate it!
