Court Convictions
« on: Saturday 02 January 16 18:23 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,

Need some help here, where would I go to search court records for convictions. My 2nd great-grandmother is showing up in the 1891 census as "Relation to Head of House: Prisoner".  1891 • Perth East Church, Perthshire, Scotland. Her information is as follows:

Margaret Brown
born - 1833
Place - Inverkeithing, Fife
died - 1902

Any info would be appreciated.

National Records of Scotland has a Margaret Brown(nee Robertson) charged with murder in 1886.
She was given a sentence of 10 years.

Just wondering if that Margaret is the one on the 1891 Census in Perth Prison  :-\

That's quite a case! Convicted for culpable homicide in the end after a whole 20 minutes of deliberation by the jury.
