Norman McGREGOR
« on: Sunday 03 January 16 08:11 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information regarding Norman McGREGOR who was born 1905 in Glasgow. His mother may have been Isabella DOBSON.
Norman married Isabella SPENCE in 1933 and he was in the Merchant Navy.
He jumped ship and settled in New Zealand.

I am hoping to find his parents names.

Regards
Belinda

Send me a PM with your email and I'll send his birth and marriage registrations.  He was born in Arbroath and married in Arbroath.  He was the illegitimate son of Isabella Dobson McGregor.

A search of Merchant Navy records gives only one reference to a Norman McGregor. I do not know for certain that this is your man as the information is very sparse, giving no date or place of birth.
What can be gleaned is that his last ship in 1930 was PORT AUCKLAND official number 146606. As her name suggests she was a regular visitor to New Zealand. Her crew agreements for 1930 are in the National Archive at Kew. They may contain personal details, including his NOK. You would be advised to visit Kew to view these documents.
