Susannah Starkie/ Moore, Ashton in Makerfield.
« on: Wednesday 13 January 16 15:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi, My Gt Gt Aunt by marriage was  born Susannah Starkie in 1854, in Ashton in Makerfield.

She married a Joseph Moore in 1877 whom I believe died in 1883 in Ashton in Makerfield.

She then married my Gt Gt Uncle Thomas Howell in 1902, still in Ashton in Makerfield and she passed away there in 1918.

Apart from the notes above I know nothing about Susannah but I would really like to so I'm hoping that someone out in Ashton who has the family name of Starkie or Moore in their history may be able to help me if they recognise Susannah as a relative of theirs.

Thanks in hope

Barbara.

Hi lizdb,
Gosh, can hardly keep up - thanks very much for all that digging.
It looks very likely that the Susannah/Susan you've unearthed is mine.
However, there is no-one by the name of Valentine on her Marriage Cert to my Gt Gt Uncle Thomas Howell. Her father shows as Thomas Starkie - deceased and her place of Residence when they got married appears to read "Town Green" ? A in M.
Is there such an address still in existence?

Thomas's address on the cert shows as West View, Wigan Road.

It would be great to possibly trace any family descendants, I live in hope that there may be a photo of my Gt Gt Uncle Thomas & Susannah in someone's possession.
Hope springs eternal. :)
Cheers
Barbara.
