Thanks for looking Christine.  Yup, might be worth checking with the RC church in Alnwick as to where/if earlier records were deposited, I suspect they don't exit though  :(

I have the surname SUTHERN/SOTHERN and numerous other variants in my family and discovered several of the name baptised at Branton  Presbyterian Church near Powburn. You might want to try searching those records.
