Where were Griffith and Margaret Roberts in 1841
« on: Friday 15 January 16 19:07 GMT (UK) »
Griffith Roberts, Gelli hir Llanarmon married Margaret Evans, Trawsgoed Llanor on 20 April 1839.
I  can not find them on 1841 census. I have found them on 1851, 1871 and 1881 census.
If anyone has time to look for them with fresh eyes I would be very grateful.

Griffith Roberts b 1812 Llanarmon though not consistent as to place of birth in the following censuses
Margaret Roberts born 1816 Llanor. Consistent as to place of birth in the following censuses.
1851 has them at Penrhydyniog in the parish of Deinio with daughter Elizabeth age 11, and son Robert age 7.

Sorry no help with your query although I think their daughter Elizabeth, aged 1 year, is at her grandparents farm Trawsgoed in the 1841 Census. Her surname I think is wrongly given as Evans not Roberts.
I note that Griffith, his parents and siblings are in "Achau" - T. Ceiri Griffith's book of family trees, number [62].

Hi
I'm a direct descendent of Ann, Gellihir, sister of Griffith. Haven't had time to check and confirm info in Ceiri[62], except baptism of Ann. It appears Humphrey took over at Gellihir after his father. Have visited the place a couple of times.

Hi
I'm descended from Elinor, not Ann !
I'll respond to your PM after checking one or two things.
Elinor marries Emmanuel Griffith of Llandegwnning in 1833.
Ann their 1st child born 1834 - others follow.
1841 Census family at Nyth Dryw, Pencaenewydd.
1851 Census Emmanuel, servant, married, at Chwilog Fawr, Llanystumdwy; Elinor & some of the children at Hendre, Trefor; Ann, servant at Gwydir Fawr, Trefor, 9 year old brother with her.
Family live in Trefor then onwards.
Ann marries, has child, is widowed, remarries with David Davies, has children by him, including Ann Davies, my grandmother 1862 - 1940. Family lived Porthmadog area from c.1880 onwards.

Have only been aware of Gellihir connection for a few years and have not yet tried to trace others from that family who might have useful info.

I hope you received the e-mail okay.
May be of interest to you and Emyr. Griffith and Ellinor's father Robert Roberts' will is on the LLGC website. www.llgc.org.uk In the search collections enter " will Robert Roberts Llanarmon " and look for Robert Roberts: 1835 Bangor Probate Records. It was the 9th record on the list.

Got the email OK, many thanks
I have Robert Robert's will, found it on the old catalogue at NLW.  Have not managed to find my way around the new catalogue but I will have to. Ordering documents by phone as I used to do, ready for a visit the next day, must now  be done online from the catalogue.
Griffith and Margaret are still missing from 1841 census.  I am now going to have another look for them, this time on the Ffor website.
Thank you
