Sweetman Family Dublin
« on: Monday 25 January 16 21:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone.

I am trying to trace possible distant cousins (or first cousins of my Grandmother)

My Grandmother's Mother was a Bernadette Sweetman Born 1909 in Dublin North. Her Parents were John Sweetman and Rosanna Giles. Their other children (Bernadette's siblings) were Nora(1903), , Rosanna (1902), Thomas (1897), John (1895), Mary (1893)  this is them in the 1911 census Conollys Cottages http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/North_Dock/Connolly_s_Cottages/21779/

I am looking for any possible relations.

Norah/Hanorah/Hanoria seems to be a common name within my Sweetman side.

Thanks!

Sam

Coming forward is always difficult with privacy issues
This is a LINK to SWEETMAN marriages from 1910 to 1950 from www.irishgenealogy.ie

You can see Bernadette’s 1930 marriage and a good possible marriage for Hanorah and Rosanna;
without the actual certificates to confirm addresses and father’s names you won’t be sure.

There is one for a Mary, two for a John and four for a Thomas remembering
(1) each may not have married; (2) some may have emigrated; and (3) men especially would have married in the bride’s parish rather than their own.

Again bearing in mind privacy laws
should the 1931 marriage of Hanorah be correct these may be her children – LINK; also 1939-1942 Electoral Register at King Street North looks promising
and should the 1922 marriage of Rosanna be correct these may be her children – LINK; also 1939-1942 Electoral Register at Clonard Road looks promising

If you order the actual civil records you may be able to prove a link through names of witnesses and sponsors.

FTR
Civil Record of marriage of John SWEETMAN and Rosanna GILES 1891

Good possibilities for deaths
Rosanna SWEETMAN died aged 58 Dublin North 1929 Q2 V2 P197
John SWEETMAN died aged 75 Dublin South 1945 Q1 V2 P397

I believe that John SWEETMAN is on the Dublin Register of electors at Cottage Place, Newfoundland Street in 1937-38 with his son John (Jun)
From 1939-43 a John is shown with Bernadette and her husband and on the 1944-45 register they move to 17 Newfoundland Street and he is no longer shown with them

Many thanks MyLuck!

Great information

I thought that last night after posting, The issue we have is that my Grandmother's mother (Bernadette) died when she was quite young. My Grandmother passed away in 2012 and was one of the eldest siblings, so I have no information of the family itself. I am hoping to find a distant cousin or someone with the same family tree that could shed some information on the family as a whole and past generations. rather than themselves (the living).

I have plenty of family in Ireland so will get one of them down to the GRO for the certs. Unless you can order online, I have only visited the center in Dublin so will check out the website.

thanks again.
