Rev Robert Kileside of Tunbridge Wells
« on: Thursday 28 January 16 13:30 GMT (UK) »
Hello:  As I do not have access to records from India I would appreciate some assistance regarding Rev. Robert Vernon Carter Kinleside (1840-1927). I know from the 1861 census taken in Cambridgeshire that he was born at Cowmhnse East Indies in 1840 and baptised in India. The 1901 census says he was born 1840 in India.  His father was Rev Charles Gratwick Raikes Kinleside, a graduate of Emmanuel College, Cambridge University who died April 28,1841 in England. Roberts mother was Elizabeth Charlotte Jemima Brydyn who his father married July 6,1837 at Westminster. Robert never married and his probate of 1927 shows the executor  of his169,511 pound estate as a spinster by the name of Matilda Kinleside who I presume was his sister.

Can someone please find the birth and baptism records for Robert and his siblings in India and its possible Robert may have had some siblings  born in England.

Yes that's interesting different parents names than you have  :-\

Also quite a gap between Robert 23 Aug 1839 and Matilda 10 Feb 1855.

His father was Rev Charles Gratwick Raikes Kinleside,

Family trees have this person as the brother of Robert Raikes so the uncle not father to your Robert.

There may have been some adoption within this family.  The painting 'Crying Forfeits' by Joshua Reynolds is one item auctioned off after his death in 1927.  It is pictured in the auction notice in The Times.  See text below the image.  http://www.dia.org/object-info/e3facbd2-27da-4292-ab37-c2a989dfb830.aspx?position=278
