Hello all

After success finding a lot about my paternal ancestors I managed to go back to around 1740, having not known anything at all before this beyond my grandfather's first name I was pretty happy .However, I  recently tried to look into the maternal side of my family and have hit a brick wall, I can't get any further than my grandads father Joseph mulqueen 1880-1923 . I can't find any record of him other than on a birth and death register.  I know he was married to nellie jackson but I just wondered if anyone can suggest any other methods in how I can reach back to find out who Joseph parents were?

Thanks!

Are those the right dates?  It should be possible to find his parents from census or his birth record - what part of the country are we looking at?

Marriage Sep 1908 Chorlton
Joseph Mulqueen
Nellie Jackson

you could send for their marriage certificate to get the name of his father or even more useful his birth certificate to get both parents names

Birth Sep 1880 Prestwich
Mulqueen Joseph

I suggest you ask a moderator to move the thread to a more relevant board...there doesn't seem to be any deciphering here   ;)
