Searching for half Sister
« on: Saturday 30 January 16 18:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi, my name is Terese and I am in search for my half sister from my dad. I have all his info, I have been given the first names of my half sister and her mother and three possible last names. I was also told my father was only 14-15 and the girl was also the same age when my sister was conceived, but my father is passed away, my mom says she doesn't know anything, no one in my dads family is talking and my grandmother has passed away. Can anyone please help me. I do have two pictures of my half sister

Hello and welcome to rootschat. We are not allowed to do searches for living people.

You did not give any year that you thought this birth occurred so not sure if the following site might help you.

BDM is a site that had births deaths & marriages by name and year, you can enter mothers maiden name if known, if you were to find the right entry you could order a birth certificate.

Where abouts was she born as Freebmd only covers England and Wales and also only up to 1983? Presumably the baby will have been registered in her mother's name, so look under that first. Do you know whether or not the baby was adopted?

The baby was born here in the United States and I don't know her mothers maiden name. I was told she could have possibly been given up for adoption To the ladder day saints of Jesus Christ but as of right now that's hear say.

You might get more help if this post was moved to the United States of America board. I'll ask a Mod to move it for you.

Don't give up, as at least you have that.

Good luck.

If you haven't done so already, you may want to try the first and last name combinations on sites like www.switchboard.com or www.whitepages.com.  You also could check them on the US public records database here - https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2199956  and the Social Security Death Index - https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1202535

If you can't find them through their names, you may want to consider autosomal DNA testing through Ancestry.com or other sites.

I believe Facebook has some groups for people seeking missing relatives. Definitely check Facebook.

Yes, go to a LDS family history center OR your library. Some libraries have free access to ancestry.com and you would be surprised at how many recent phone books and recent birth records you can search on ancestry.  I found my parents complete 1994 address by searching on ancestry.

Good luck.
