Given the different discharge numbers it is likely that it is not my C Tyne, I have seen that it is quite a common name.  So I can assume that that number would be on any medal card etc that I may come across, if so it would make it easier to discount any that don't match, especially when only initial and surname is given

The discharge number, S44487, re Charles William Beecham Tyne, would only appear on Merchant Navy documentation. I know its very difficult for you given your location and the exchange rate of the Rand but Hughs advice to visit Kew is realy the only way to proceed. I have sent you a PM.
