That was the marriage I identified as ours :)

The marriage to Jane would also be a possible as would the Stowford identification.

Thank you all for the help you have given. I now have a lot of work to do on this family :)

I will continue to try to find some report of Elizabeth's death. If it was at all unusual the papers would report it I think.

The Bickles I have found in local papers from Devon and Cornwall so far  have been less than reputable. Wonder of any of them are "ours"!

There's a William Bickle death in Sep 1838 Tavistock - could be the father so wouldn't be around in 1841.

Is Lewtrenchard in the right part of Devon?

1841

Close to Stowford is Thrushelton and FindMyPast has the image/transcription of the baptism for -
Thomas, bap 31 Dec 1837 at Thrushelton, abode Wollacott, parents William and Elizabeth Bickle, occupation Blacksmith

Is there a baptism for Eliza c1835?  There is an Eliza born Thrushelton who is 16 a servant in 1851, thinking she could be the 5 year old from 1841 - possible sister.

Added - thanks DOB7 :D

I think we are getting somewhere now - remember the grandson mentioned earlier William Thomas Bickle 23 in 1881

well he is with unmarried mother Eliza Squire Bickle 46

and grandmother Eliza Ellis widow 76 - this could be the widow of William who died 1838 remarried to an Ellis.

I think Eliza Bickle marries Richard Ellis in Sep 1846 because in 1861 they have 3 year old William Thomas Bickle grandson with them.

Also with them in 1871 age 13.
