Electoral Registers for William and Mary Bateman (Tuckwood) 1800-1840
« on: Thursday 25 February 16 10:14 GMT (UK) »
Morning all,
Has anyone got any access to Electoral Registers for 1800 to 1840 for the Granby cum Sutton area.It would be Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire.William and Mary got married in Granby but I would like to find any Registers between 1800 and 1820 that had either Mary (Tuckwood) or William Bateman. I have tried Ancestry but apart from Thomas Tuckwood 1841 there is no other index.
Thanks
Maggie

Hi Rosie, Hi Trish,Mary Tuckwood (Bateman) was born Welby but married in Granby. She was 7 yrs old when her mother,Amy died.Thomas died 1798,Amy died 1799 which left William snr, William jnr and Mary. I'm hoping that William snr re-married to Elizabeth Bell in Rauceby in 1801 and William Jnr married Elizabeth Granger in Notts St Marys 1803
What I'm hoping to find is how did Mary get to Granby, did she go with her brother William Jnr?
William Snr came from Manthorpe but there was a Thomas from Manthorpe who married a "Sarah" They went to live in Granby. If they were brothers it would be William jnrs Uncle. Did Mary and William jnr go to his uncle in Granby?.
William jnr who married Elizabeth Granger was a shoemaker in 1804.Did he learn his trade from the Calverleys in Granby and then go to Nottingham?
Hence the brickwall!!!!
Hope I've made sense.
Maggie

Thanks for that explanation Maggie.
Yes you made perfect sense.

Have you looked at the image of the 1801 Marriage on Lincstothepast.com?

The reason I ask is FreeREG does not state William was a Widower at the 1801 Marriage.

This may be Thomas's Marriage;
24 Nov 1783, St Wulfrum, Grantham, Lincs
Thomas TUCKWOOD to Sarah CHAMBERS
Bachelor/Spinster
Both of Manthorpe Linsc Parish
(FreeREG)

Trish :)
