St Mary's RC Church, Chislehurst
« on: Friday 26 February 16 17:44 GMT (UK) »
I have information that leads me to believe that a Thomas Gerard O'Connor (or Connor), who died on 29th June 1976 was buried in this churchyard (possibly in the same grave as his wife, Gladys, who, as far as I can tell, died in 1973).

Does anyone know if there are any gravestone photos anywhere on the web ?
Thanks

Boo

Have you contacted the church to confirm the burial and to confirm whether there is a headstone?

They are both there, with footstone:-

In loving memory of
Gladys Mary O'Connor
15th March 1900
1st June 1973
RIP

also of Thomas Gerard
O'Connor
19th May 1899
29th June 1976
RIP

Unfortunately, it's not one of the graves I've photographed, but you can just make it out in the top right-hand corner of the lower picture here – the one with white kerbs, green chippings, and a vase (click on the picture to enlarge). I'll get a proper photo next time I'm there, but no promises when that will be. You've just missed my last visit a fortnight ago  :(

Researching Penge, Anerley, (incuding the Crystal Palace) and neighbouring parts of Beckenham, currently in London (Bromley), formerly Surrey and/or Kent.

Oh thank you Chris, that is wonderful! The info confirms that its the right people.

No rush for the photo but if you do go again I'd be really grateful if you take one.

Your help is very much appreciated, thanks again.

Yes, well I think I have. I found an email address on the web and mailed. It didn't bounce but neither have I had a response - though I didn't expect an immediate one. There was also a website address for the parish but that no longer works, so I am not certain that the email address is still valid.
