Lost Fanny
« on: Wednesday 16 March 16 06:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm trying to locate my 3x great aunt Fanny Rodger born abt 1834 in Ireland.
I have her in the 1861 Scottish census as a bleacher as she was in the 1855 census.  Then in 1871 she shows up as a domestic servant (age 33) for the Smiles family who is the surveyor of taxes.  The trail goes cold after this as I can't locate her in any 1881 census or via a Marriage.  I can't also locate a Death cert.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Perhaps she returned to Ireland?  Or perhaps she is the death between 1871-1881 showing on Scotlands people.  I just input her name - nothing else and only one match showed but it may not be her

I have looked at the one you mentioned unfortunately it is not her.  I have also tried to look for records that she moved back to Ireland but can't locate any, also marriage and death records.  Thanks for looking for me much appreciated.

Just checking....did you allow for Rodgers/Roger/Rogers?

Also only using initial F in case she's down as Fran/Frances/Francesca or other

Unfortunately I tried all the variations of the name Fanny (should see some of what Google comes up with...geesh) as well as Rodger with no luck.

I found a will for Fanny's Brother Robert and his surname has an S on the end of Rodger.  In his will in 1890 it mentions her and a blank space for her future husband.  I'm assuming (likely a lot) that she was still alive in 1890. Other than this I still can't find a trace either in Ireland or Scotland for her.
