Hi I think the Anderson family in 1901 may have links to the family of Violet Jane Ann Gray:-

1891 Census

Alexander Gray 36 occ Grain Store Keeper b Insch
Margory 32 b Aberdeenshire
Jane Anderson 32 Married/Sister b Aberdeenshire
Alexander Anderson 3 Nephew b Banchory, Kincardinshire
Margory E 0 Niece b Monymusk
Residing at Gordons Cottage, Alford, Aberdeenshire

Found a bit more about this census entry, which says Jane Anderson was born Chapel of Garich and therefore definitely the same Jane as in 1901. Also says she was a Shoemaker's wife. Therefore it looks like she was married twice. Alexander Anderson being a son of the first marriage and later children being sons and daughters of Charles.

:) Obvious question, why is Alexander aged 3 shown as an Anderson, Marriage of Charles to Jane, would answer your questions, as not au fait with Scottish BMD, maybe if not yourself can someone confirm if Jane was a Widow at time of marriage to Charles, or if Alexander aged 3 was a Anderson?

:) Hi again why am I seeing a Jane Milne, Gray, or Anderson aged 5 in 1881 Ellon, Aberdeenshire on Family Search?
Maybe nothing to do with what is shown above, just fascinated as never seen 3 possible surnames ;D

It is strange. Perhaps someone who may have access to the original census image might be able to shed some light and/or has come across this before?

I think the above although has both Gray/Anderson maybe has no connection, it is that marriage of Jane to Charles that would be so helpful,  will look for above though in 1891? ;D

EDIT as thought, Anne has married a James Morrison Annie & Katie Anderson b Ellon are with the couple and new son in 1891 Peterhead

Had a chance to look at my family tree. Alexander Gray born 1855 and Jean/Jane Gray 1859 were brother and sister of George Gray, my great grandfather. Their parents were Alexander Gray 1830 and Margaret Mortimer 1833. Alexander Gray 1855, married a Marjory Elder. George Gray was the father of Violet Jane Ann Gray.

:) Yes thought that was the possible link, so only left to find out if Jane married Charles Anderson as Widow or not?
