Not sure it helps at the moment but Thomas in 1851..one of the damaged sheets:
HO107; Piece: 2220; Folio: 509; Page: 5 at 5 Stafford St Chorlton
Patrick Heron 57 mechanic b Kildare Ireland
Mary 55 b do
Thomas 30 mechanic b Manchester [engine fitter in 1881]
John 18 mechanic b do

So any marriage for Thomas is post 30 Mar 1851.

Just to confuse things, there's a burial at Prestwich in 1856 of a 34-year old Thomas Heron from Manchester. He's been in Prestwich Asylum.

I've just found a VERY confused public tree on Ancestry. Apparently, Thomas's father Patrick was born in 1840 and died in 1618. Maybe this Thomas was a TARDIS mechanic!

;D ;D ;D

I found a [less confused] tree - eckhardt family tree - which gives Thomas' wife as Mary Taffe or Chapman but no date for marriage. States Thomas died 1888. Also only has 1851 & 1881 censuses. Gives Patrick's dates as 1794 - 1856.

Thanks for the find andrew & clarification rosie.

Can anybody find the baptisms of any of the children ? I can only see CASSANDRA's 1 Mar 1863, born 17 Nov 1861  Manchester Cathedral. Thought one of the later ones may give an address for sighting them in 1871

Good thinking. Then presumably they were not RC. I'm wondering if Thomas' job took him away.

There is an 1872 St Saviour Manchester baptism of a Liley Herring b 1871 parents Thomas & Mary of Chorlton  ???
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JSZB-QX8
though most likely entry on freebmd [no Lil*y] is Elizabeth Q4 1871

Scratched as baptism entry show this Thomas to be a groom of 40 Wilson St.

Snap - you posted as I was typing, claire!!

Perhaps the other children were not baptised? Or baptised RC?
