looking for background of Charles Whittingham born Beeston Cheshire

I'm looking for background of Charles Whittingham who appears on the 1871 census aged 37 with his wife Nancy (Chappells
(who he married in Manchester in 1854) at Little Bolton, Lancs, and gives his birthplace as Beeston Cheshire.There are two possible birth entries 1. 1831 born o.o.w to Ann, and 2.1833 to Samuel and Hannah Whittingham, I can see a Samuel and Hannah on the 1841 census but there isn't a Charles with them.
I can't find him on the 1841, 1851 or 1861 census -any advise would be gratefully received.

His marriage states his father is Peter Whittingham - occ Farmer

Thank you for replies and taking time to research, unfortunately I'm no nearer to finding Charles on any of the missing census. No trace of Peter either, I wonder whether Charles was illegitimate and the info on his marriage record was made up ?

It would not be unknown for Peter to have been an invention, especially as he would not be expected to travel to Bolton to attend the wedding.

But he could actually be Charles's grandfather. My gg grandmother Ann Jones from Cheshire claimed her father to be Peter when she married in Bolton, but the baptism register at Handley doesn't name her father.

Ann was brought up in a house full of children, with Peter and Mary still adding to their brood at the same time as the older daughters were having a good time with the local lads. Maybe the situation was similar in Beeston.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

If this Charles is the correct one then he possibly  had a brother, both were born to Ann who was unmarried.
