If the fiche has a number like  8888/51

Then a name change occurred in 1951.

Both names should be recorded, in the example, 1951 fiche.

Been through the records twice now, no luck. Maybe off to the Sallies or Family Court, though not knowing the adopted birth name is a challenge.
