warstone Lane cemetery look up please

I am trying to find if my great great grandfather was buried in Warstone Lane cemetery – he was Joseph Nicholls and died on 14 November 1893 aged 75 - daughter Lily Nicholls registered the death- lived at 2 Louisa place,
Hope you can help?

I've just had a look at the Jewellery Quarter Research Trust website (I don't know if I'm allowed to to post the address but search JQRT).)
I don't think he's buried at Warstone Cemetery or Key Hill, but it's best if you check!
Some of my ancestors lived in Louisa Place at a much later date!!

I have looked at the BMSGH index on their website, it seems he may be buried in Witton Cemetery.

Hi there- oh that sounds interesting- - how did you find him- just looking at the site and don't seem to be able to see where to look Witton cemetery records up? ???

Hello,

There are two burials  within a year of each other.

Joseph NICHOLLS   burial in 1893  at Witton Cemetery,   Birmingham.
Ref: 175888.
And
Joseph NICKOLLS burial  in 1894 at  Warstone Lane Cemetery, Birmingham.
Ref: 48470.  Section P. Plot 1920.
Note spelling of Surname. 

The BMSGH have burial documents that you can purchase for a small fee. This should state the date of the burial. Sometimes this will state who purchased the plot.


 The  Two Jewellery Quarter Cemeteries in Hockley, Birmingham ,  Key Hill Cemetery and Warstone Lane Cemetery  have recently been awarded over a million pounds to help promote and  restore the cemeteries.

The Friends of Key Hill Cemetery  & Warstone Lane Cemetery have  guided tours of both Cemeteries once a month from January to November. (None in December )
 The tours are the second Sunday of the month.

Tours of the Cemeteries.
This is FREE  to members a small charge is made to non members.
£3.00 per person per   Cemetery. 
 Children under 16 Free.
Tours are the second  Sunday in the month.
Tours of Warstone Lane, start at 12 Noon ( meet at Pitsford Street ) 
Tours of   Key Hill Cemetery start at 2pm ( meet at Ickneild Street entrance)
