INDIA: Thomas Hedger and a Bible Society in Trichinopoly, Bombay

I should be most grateful if someone can read the occupation of Thomas Hedger on the attached extract from a register accurately (Colpertoun? Coopertown?) and of course I should be even more grateful if anyone knows anything about this Bible Society. Does it mean he was a missionary? Any help very much welcomed.
