Multiple Birth Registrations?
« on: Thursday 21 April 16 16:33 BST (UK) »
I have a situation where a Deborah X married Mark Y in 2003. [Surnames suppressed for privacy].
There is a birth registered in 2000 as both Lauren Grace X and Lauren Grace Y (ie. before marriage).  There is a birth registered in 2005 as Lauren Grace Y.  There is no death registered for either Lauren Grace X or Lauren Grace Y.

All the above is from the transcriptions on Ancestry.com (which do not allow viewing the original GRO indexes).

Question : is it possible to re-register a birth following marriage of the parents?

However, you can apply to re-register the birth if the natural parents get married at a later date. https://www.gov.uk/correct-birth-registration

There are no images of the indexes from 1984 onwards.

From FindMyPast

The birth, marriage and death records from 1984 onward were recorded in a computer database only so there is no original image for records post-1984.

However microfiche of post 1984 events are available to view at the 7 GRO host sites.
