Do not know if anything can be done to restore this photo. It is a photo of my Granda, his sister and my great grandmother. Looks like they are standing in snow.

It certainly looks like snow, but they are not dressed for snow.  It may have been a freak snowfall, like we have been having lately in the North  west of England.

I remember my father telling me that there was a cold spell in December 1939.

He had been posted to Edinburgh, but was returning to Liverpool  for Christmas leave,  the trains were delayed by the severe weather.    Perhaps the indications of snow also help date the photograph.
