Help with words please
« on: Friday 06 May 16 21:37 BST (UK) »
Hello to all researchers,
Could any one decipher the words after labourer, looks to me like prayed some thing?  It's from a 1815 regimental muster.
Thank you all in advance.

Pray can be used in the sense of to ask earnestly for something. Licence (or license, as it appears here) means permission or leave to do something. This word is not connected with leave in the sense of to go away. He asked for leave, i.e. permission to be absent for some time.
