Walter william Paxman
« on: Saturday 14 May 16 14:36 BST (UK) »
WW Paxman was born in Yarpole, Herefordshire in 1885. He subsequently married Ada Ruth Smith and lived in Wiltshire. He was a Gunner in RGA during WW1 and was injured in thw summer of 1917 - resukting in the loss of  leg. I have found him on 1911 and previous censuses, and also his Medial Card. Does anyone know motre about his war service and the loss of his leg, please? He subsequently returned to Wiltshire, dying in Westbury in 1953. He was a gamekeeper.

There is a reasonable chance that Walter Paxman's service record would have survived if he was invalided out of the army (National Archive records WO364).  These are viewable on Ancestry and findmypast.

For others looking:
Walter W Paxman, Gunner 91618, Royal Garrison Artillery

I have looked in those records, to no avail. I think his must be part of the records burnt in the Blitz, sadly. Thank you, though!
