Sutton Courtney baptism 1873 - possibly?
« on: Saturday 14 May 16 17:32 BST (UK) »
According to other records, William Edward Goodwin was b. 29 July 1873 in Sutton Courtney, son of William Albert and Caroline Goodwin.

Is it possible for anyone to see if there's a baptism for him in Sutton Courtney, please, and if so, a copy of the image from the baptism register would be fabulous.

Thanks in advance.

Hi STG,

The transcripts of SC have only been transcribed by the Oxfordshire FHS for baptisms upto 1867 which, unfortunately, rules your request out. I did look to see if his entry may have appeared erlier but with no luck.
I also looked for any "Goodwin" marriages but regret to say none are listed, apart from a Thomas Godwin in 1676.

As SC is one of the former Berks parishes now in Oxfordshire, the actual registers may be in the Berks RO to whom you will have to contact for more info;

arch@reading.gov.uk

Good luck with your searches.

Thanks Alan.

Wonder if anyone here goes to the Reading RO and would do me a look-up?

Here's hoping  :)

Sutton Courtney baptisms up to 1875 are in the IGI - William Goodwin does not appear in 1873 or thereabouts. But their indexes are not the greatest.  Nevertheless the LDS will have the PRs on film - which can be consulted at your local Family History Centre.
