Difficulty opening PAF file in Windows 10? COMPLETED Thanks.

I bought a new PC recently and transferred programs over, I cannot remember what program I opened my Personal Ancestral File in before but I tried to open it just now and it wont open, I tried Adobe and IrfanView but cannot open? Does anyone on here have a PAF which they open in Windows 10?

Earlier this week I installed PAF on my W10 laptop. I am not at all techie so don't really understand what you are asking, I just use the desktop icon to open the program then select the family I want and double click it to open.

PAF is the program, you need to install it to read your *.paf files (these are the files holding the data you've entered into the program).

My original question was how could I open up PAF in Windows 10 on my new latop, as it worked fine on the old one and I was using my PAF up to then.

I think that we were trying to be too subtle in attempting to remind you what you installed on the old laptop.

Now that you have read all of the suggestions . . . . .
* do you remeber what you installed on the old?
* have you installed it on the new?

OR

Have you stilll got the old laptop?
If so, power it up, run the old program and export the file in another format (eg GEDCOM)

I suggest that the OP downloads and installs Ancestral Quest on her new computer. It is very similar to PAF and will open PAF files without the need for Gedcoms.
