Fanny Parsons of Nimmer Chard - complete
« on: Tuesday 24 May 16 13:48 BST (UK) »
I am researching a family photo of a family named Parsons from Nimmer near Chard.  Father is Heman and mother is Amelia and he has 3 sons and 2 daughters in it.  I know who they are but can't identify a young girl in the photo.  I suspect she is Fanny Parsons born c.Dec 1894 but who are her parents: Heman or one of the children? Does any one know?

In 1891 Heman and Amelia have a 14 yr old daughter called Fanny.  Later info confirms none of their 8 children  died.
Therefore unlikely, though not impossible, that they would call a child born in 1894 also Fanny

Thanks.  So she is either not their daughter but a granddaughter called Fanny or of a different name. 8 children is 3 more than I found is that is new.

She looks about 7 in the photo so I suspect granddaughter but who is the parent?.  I can find no marriage record for any of the children and there is no other spouse in the photo.

So - if your photo has 3 sons in it, they must be Walter Ernest and Frederick

The 2 daughters must be 2 out of Ellen, Fanny, Emma and Edith (probably the younger of them), and then the younger child is probably Ella?

The photo is dated to Dec 1900 (big sign with the date on) and is the welcome home from the Boer War of eldest son Walter.  Ernest and Frederic are also in it.  2 adult females in their 20s but none of the sons is married by that time.  I will have to work out which daughters have moved away by 1900 although they may be living nearby and returned to see their brother.

The child is then Ella.

Many thanks for your time.

Alan

In 1901 Only Ernest and Ella at home.

Fanny A is still unmarried, but is a servant in Camberwell, so not local
Edith is also a servant in same household

Emma is a servant on Deptford, so again not local.
