Try  http://www.freereg.org.uk/

(Looks like she was actually baptised in 1829.)

Hi DRH123,

Something is not right.  Mother is Hester in that record.

Parents William Thomas DAVEY and Elizabeth GARRATT (GARRETT in some records - father Rev. Samuel)
Marriage 16 Aug 1824  Bath St James

Susan aged 9 in 1841 census with parents William & Elizabeth

Susan aged 10 in 1842 shipping record with same parents.

Susanna in her 1848 - yes- marriage in Sydney.

Susan died in 1888 in Australia aged 56.

You're quite right, she's a different Susanna. She's with her parents in Bath in the 1851 census when your Susanna was already in Australia.

There does seem to be a lot of William Daveys baptising children in Bath in the 1820s and 30s. With wives Mary, Hester, Fanny and Maria as well as Elizabeth (maybe Mary = Maria). But I can't see any other Susan or Susanna.

I can't see the family in 1841, where did you find them.

I notice various trees on Ancestry show William and Elizabeth having a son John in 1839, and BathBMD confirms a John registered then in Lyncombe or Widcombe with mother's maiden name Garrett but the only matching baptism is in Sept 1840 at Widcombe with parents JAMES and Elizabeth Davey, plasterer. Did William sometimes call himself James?

David

Hi David.

I've found nothing to say that William sometimes called himself James.

They were not easy to find in 1841.
