Many thanks for your helpful suggestions. Sadly the Trade Directories didn't provide the answer, no obits, so I must wait for the death certificate from the GRO. What information I uncover will be passed to Malcolm for the Calderdale Companion. My approach to Calderdale Library met with a mixed response. I am a regular user of Huddersfield Local Studies Library, where the service is first class.
