« on: Monday 30 May 16 15:12 BST (UK) »
Lieutenant Commander John Robert Anderson McEwan RNR born Edinburgh/Leith c1865, went to sea in 1884, got his Mate's certificate in 1896, and died in Stonehaven in 1942.  He was a ship's captain in the Merchant Navy and was employed by the Fisheries Board (possibly Fisheries Protection vessel?) He received an OBE for his services in the RNR during WW1 and later went on to become the Superintendent for the Fisheries Board of Scotland.  We are interested in any details of his service record and obtaining his photograph, if possible.
