Felix Charles Percival Carter
« on: Tuesday 31 May 16 23:48 BST (UK) »
I am trying to pinpoint the birth of

CARTER, Felix Charles Percival Carter....

From his marriage to Margaret Ellen Foord in 1896 his Father is Felix....

I can find his WW1 record on the National Archives which indicates a birth in march 1872 in Buchan Devon?  the 12 or 9 March 1870 on another page...

Family search site has a Felix Charles Percival Carter born 1865 and this seems to be taken up on a few online trees....

there is also a record with this name arriving in NSW in 1882 and apprentice on the ship I think aged 17

Is it possible to find a birth record for the 1870/1872 era in Devon?

Cheran ???

Cheran there are four files on NAA - only his WW1 service file is digitised.  There is another dated 1917-1918 with age 48.

He obviously told a few fibs.

There are a number of online trees and yes it is possible that the info has been copied from tree to tree however with three given names I doubt they have the incorrect Felix.  Have you searched for him on 1871 or 1881 census?

Enlistment standards
https://www.awm.gov.au/encyclopedia/enlistment/

Initially age limit was 19-38.   In June 1915 this was changed to 18-45 years.

He had to change his birthdate to enlist

Just found his burial at West Terrace 1938 aged 73 so back to the 1865 I think...

I have tried but haven't found on the census as yet...

He was living at this Daughters house at Mornington I also just located on Trove....  Does anyone know the suburb of Mornington in Adelaide???

Also found a baptism at St Bedes semaphore  for Felix Charles Percival Carter   Father Felix mother Hetty... (poss this is what Margaretis called?) but I can't find on SA BDM...

Thanks Cando

If you could visit a library where Ancestry is available, you could see him with is parents on the 1871 and 1881 census.   I have to go out now but will transcribe the census when I return later today if someone else hasn't done it for you.

http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/manning/pn/m/m11.htm#mornington

Manning Index at SLSA mentions Mornington as a place but doesn't give actual location.
