Mystery - David McConnell 2nd SAS Parachute Reg.

Hi all,

David McConnell 2nd SAS Parachute Regiment is listed as a WW2 casualty on the Newmilns War Memorial. Newmilns is a small town in Ayrshire Scotland.
I have not been able to find this man on CWGC website or a death cert on Scotlands People.
I have been trying to establish if this man is related to my family.

Can anyone help with advice on how to progress my research please?

He is recorded on CWGC , Scotlandspeople and Scottish National War Memorial in 1945 but with his unit as HLI.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Can I just clarify? Private David McConnell age 27 died 22/12/1945 served with Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow) ?
Can I just ask please for future reference , how were you able to tell that this David was the man who served with 2nd SAS?

I had not found that website before. Poor David must have died from injuries, I would assume .
With this new info I should be able to establish if he is related to my late grandfather of the same name.
