Can anyone identify this uniform? Grandfather Duncan Rankin McKean

A good spot T1.  In a Google image of 1st Bn Cameronians buglers, there is a small lad in the front row, without the shoulder "wings" on the jacket, without a bugle, looking exactly like the subject.  Rather has the look of a mascot!

many thanks to those who replied.  I have not checked back at this board nor was notified that there were more responses.  Again sincere thanks.  The further info given abt Duncan is correct.  He does settle in Lowell, MASS., originally settling with an uncle Duncan McKean.  I am trying to locate the original photo which shows a companion in a more clear uniform, but heaven help me, I can't find it!!!  It is the only artifact from him.

I finally located a copy of the full photo.  Not sure if it helps clarify the uniform.  Once again all help is much appreciated.
