It's confusing - urban streets didn't change by as much as rural as the enumerator could move easier between properties

My grandad lived at house #45 in a rural  Roscommon area in 1911
The same house was #7 in 1901!
He lived in the same house until he died in the 1970s and it is still officially not numbered!

This is page 2 of the house and buildings return for Tolka Cottages.
Note numbers 38 and 39 are one house. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000031815/
and on page 1, the numbers start at 2 than 4 and so on up to 26 which is followed by 27 etc.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000031814/
it looks like his was crossing the road to another set of houses. Does anyone know what was opposite Tolka Cottages at the time, it would be interesting to see the numbers for them.

This is the 2nd page for 38/39

some very odd numbering going on.
