Thanks for your help.
I've had another scout around possible marriages - as you know there are several - but none leaps out. No hard link found between a death quoting a date of birth and any of the possible married names.

Mary Ann Edith's parents are well documented, but apart from her birth details I have found absolutely no information about their daughter Mary Ann Edith.

When did the parents die? Did either/both leave a Will? They can be great sources for finding daughters married names.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Mary's father Henry Ewart Holland died in Birmingham in 1961 GRO B'ham Mar61 9C 724
Her mother Sarah Holland nee Geering also died in Birmingham, in 1966 GRO B'ham Sept 1966 9c 151

There is a new Govt website listing will/probate records:  probatesearch.service at gov.uk
I've looked on this and not found any record of probate.
There is a Mary Edith Holland for whom probate was issued at Winchester on 24 June 2014, she died 3 April 2014. This is not our person. Local newspapers in Hampshire reported that a Mary Holland was found drowned in Hythe on 3 April 2014. She was aged 87 and a Mary Holland was born in Hampshire in 1927.

I've found the Probate Search website very useful. The free index lists the exact date and address at time of death and often the recipients of the estate.

You could buy the death certs. & see if a Mary ? daughter registered either of them.

Yes that's true, I'll probably go for her mother as she was the last to die, I'll let you know the outcome.

I agree, it is very useful. Just one little point - it never shows the recipients of the estate, only a copy of the Will will do that. It does show the names of Executors (if there was a Will)  or Administrator
(if there wasn't) of the Estate. These people may or may not be one of the beneficiaries, only the Will would tell you.
